Danitza Cortes Cruza
Age 326 Sep 2026
Santa Cruz (Bolivia)
Stabbed
Danitza's body was found with stab wounds several days after she was reported missing.
Unfortunately, today the colleagues from Radial 15, at approximately 4 in the afternoon, had to receive horrible news. In the morgue of the hospital in La Pampa de La Isla, they had to witness and identify the mistreated, damaged, and violated lifeless body of our colleague Danitza Cortés.
The murder of a trans woman, this hate crime, breaks our hearts but unites us more than ever to continue fighting and defending our rights, the right to life. We raise our voices to the heavens, saying that trans lives matter, that trans lives must be respected. This cry is a cry of alert, a call to the authorities, because we cannot leave the death, the murder of a human being, the life of a trans woman, unpunished.
Our colleague Daanitza was always a hard-working woman, committed to the struggle of the trans community, always generous and willing to stand up for her friends and colleagues. That's why our hearts are broken today to learn that Daanitza was murdered. This crime adds to the many others that have been committed against the lives of trans women in Santa Cruz. We are on high alert.
Our colleague and sister was found stabbed and dead on September 6th in the early morning near the Santos Dumont fourth ring road. This is a hate crime that cannot go unpunished because Danitza was always a quiet, humble, and good-natured person.
We call upon the authorities and society at large. Our rights must prevail, and these crimes must not go unpunished. When a trans woman dies as a result of hate, silence is complicity.
Rest in peace, Danitza.
